You can’t pick it up! It was a real composition! Nancy and Fionnuala, are you both originally Brits, too, so know this weird custom? We’ve seen signs for emu eggs around here, but never seem to be driving by during the proper season. How is that possible? Who was it said that???? I now have all 4 of his books, including the beautiful new Nopi North of Piccadilly.
And the whole thing was probably vastly improved by the use of baker hubby’s own sourdough bread, which more than compensates for the lack of duck’s egg or truffle oil. This cookbook is so full of ZING and OOMPH that it can hardly be contained on the shelf, it buzzes and fizzes and sizzles and clamours to be taken down, lovingly caressed, and drooled over. The slight disadvantage is that you can only do one egg at a time – or use loads of pans – but then the eggs keep in warm water.

So often the ones I’ve bought here are tasteless. I made a great roasted eggplant aubergine to the Brits and French dish from vegetariwch self-named cookbook last week. I just got his book ‘Plenty’, and it too is great. Seems so vegetzrisch pour moi It also has some kind of cheese on it, something fairly mild, and I believe some arugula on top.
Heinz Baked Beans were so ubiquitous in GB, indeed I practically grew up on them I was a horrifically fussy eater as a childthat I always imagine Heinz as a British company.
And also the lentils with Gorgonzola and semi-dried tomatoes, that could turn into my new version of soul food. I’ve forgotten where you are. And we only needed two, so not too long a wait. I just got one of his, I believe just called Ottolenghi.

Dec 21, I also just borrowed one of his ebooks; haven’t tried anything yet. Just a moment while we sign you in to your Goodreads account. Only flag comments that clearly need our attention. We’re eating asparagus with everything at the moment, most often with eggs. That has always sounded so weird to me, but all my UK friends seem to have grown up on it.
They’re not as sweet as the ones from further south, but I like them better for that.
